Borough Market, London

Providing a vibrant fresh new look within the arches of London Bridge

The Brief:

We have been working with Owner Mark Stembridge over the past 3 years to help modernise the Café located in the Arches of Borough Market at London Bridge. Having recently refurbished the kitchen we were now working with a design company to modernise the concept and change the feel of the place – specifically moving to a vibrant blue for a fresh new look. We were tasked with refurbishing the Servery Counters, replacing the flooring, refurbishing the toilets and supplying bold eye-catching signage – all in the new look Blue.

What We Did:

Our first task was to completely empty the premises as space is at an absolute premium. Everything was removed overnight and placed in safe storage giving the team space to work in. The Servery Counters were taken to specialist company and work began on refurbishing them.

All the flooring on the Ground Floor was taken up and new plywood was laid ready to take new Altro Blue Safety Floor, the same was done with the stairs and landing areas. The toilet was removed, and the office was prepared ready for decoration.

We now started on the task of putting everything back, all in the new corporate colours. A back to the wall toilet was installed along with a bespoke Corian White sink unit, Blue and white metro tiles finished off a classy new look. The new Blue Safety Floor was installed throughout the Ground Floor with white faces fitted on the stairway to give a wonderful fresh feel.

All the ceilings and walls were decorated along with the door frames, new shutters were installed, and the place was starting to take shape. Finally, the refurbished Servery Counters were returned along with the old equipment and the place was ready to open its doors.

Our last project was to refurbish and paint the Two Arch windows, replacing the folding sashes and installing a vibrant new white neon sign – a significant task in itself, made harder by the fact that the widows stood 8m above the floor, the restaurant was to continue trading and working hours were restricted form Mid-Night – 5.00am – definitely a job for the Nocturnal team!!

Scaffolding was erected then taken down each night and over an arduous 2 weeks the job was completed – on time and in budget.

The end result -  stunning!! Why not check it out and visit them when you’re next in Borough Market
